India Auto Expo 2020 – Electric Vehicles on the spotlight

India’s Largest auto show, 15th edition of Auto Expo 2020 has concluded in New Delhi. All the major automotive manufacturers were exhibiting their futuristic electric vehicle models in the show.

Mahindra & Mahindra

One of the biggest auto manufactures, Mahindra & Mahindra showcased a lineup of cars that may become part of their electric portfolio.

The company displayed the eKuv 100 & eKuv 300 in the Auto expo 2020. According to company sources, Ekuv100 will be one of the cheapest electric cars to launch in India. Expected pricing is to the tune of INR 8.25 Lakh. Mahindra claims a mileage to the range of 147 kms on a single charge.

Funster, the concept EV SUV was in the pavilion. Its design appealed to the visitors. Another interesting demonstration was of Atom – the EV that is supposed to replace Indian auto rickshaws on roads.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki had Futuro-e in its kitty. This EV vehicle was designed completely in India. The launch date is yet to be announced.

The star of the year Nexon EV which claims a range of upto 312 kms per charge drew a lot of attention for Tata. This model can be expected with an ex-showroom price of 13.99 lakhs.

Tata had also showcased the Altroz EV which is the electric version of the recently launched Altroz, combustion engine.

Mercedes Benz

The luxury car maker Mercedes Benz has rolled out their first electric SUV during the Auto Expo 2020. The EQC will be launching in April 2020 and claims up to the range of 470 kms on a single charge.

MG

MG introduced their Marvel X, E- Vision concept in the Auto Expo 2020. This model was earlier showcased in the Shanghai Auto show 2017. MG is to reveal the official launch date and price. But it is being told that the Marvel X is the world’s first internet connected electric vehicle.

Great Wall Motors

ORA R1 is a hatchback model electric vehicle from GMW. The company expects Ora to be the most affordable electric car in India.  With a price tag of 6 lakhs and claims of up to 350 kms range – ORA may be putting their money where their mouth is. The launch is expected this year.

GMW will also launch SUV’s like Haval H6 & H9 under a different brand in the market.

Kia Motors

Kia Soul – the first EV from Kia motors that is expected to launch in the Indian market was displayed. This car had already been showcased at the Los Angeles show last year. This concept model from Kia is targeted for India.

Renault

Renault India has launched the EV version of Kwid, called K-ZE. The range is estimated to be about 240 kms. Renault has no plans to introduce this vehicle any time soon.
